Give Your Mom a Travel Gift Basket This Year February 9, 2010 | 01:04 am

Is your mom a travel junkie?  If she travels a lot for business, lives across the country from her family, or just has a serious case of wanderlust, treat her to a travel-themed gift basket.  Travel baskets are thoughtful and remarkably versatile, and she’ll love the personalized touch of such a practical gift!

If your mother already has a trip planned, investigate the city she’ll be exploring for her.  Get her a map of the city, and a guidebook to various museums, attractions, and other points of interest.  Tuck in a printout from Trip Advisor or another travel website with must-see recommendations.  You can even buy a gift card to a great restaurant near her hotel!  If there’s no trip on the horizon, make sure her basket includes photo books of some of her favorite travel spots around the globe.  She’ll love displaying them on her coffee table and remembering all the great times she had on previous trips.

For regular business travelers, put together a set of airport essentials, like a travel blanket, an eye mask or ear plugs for sleeping next to noisy kids, and hand lotion and bottle water to battle dehydration.  Magazines and paperback books are always welcome distractions for a plane ride as well.

Mothers Day Gifts to Remember January 19, 2010 | 10:43 pm

Mothers Day comes just once a year, but our moms work hard all year long. If there’s one time to really show our mothers just how much we love and appreciate all that they do for us, it’s the second Sunday in May. Give a little bit back to your mother this year, and don’t be unprepared to celebrate this important holiday. Your mother deserves a little recognition, and she’ll appreciate it most if it comes from her loving children and spouse.

There are so many great things to give your mother as a Mothers Day gift, but making a decision can be challenging. Why not forgo the traditional flowers or jewelry and give your mother something she can always treasure: a homemade scrap book chock full of family memories. All too often our beloved family photos end up collecting dust in a shoebox, or more and more often are filed away on a computer hard drive, never to be seen again. Bring those pictures out of the darkness and into the light where they can be loved and cherished as you and your mom remember all the wonderful times your family has had together. This is sure to be a memorable and beloved gift come Mothers Day.
